Fan TV App Reviews

Perfect 1 stop shop

Love that there is one place to go to see where episodes are being played, if they are new or not, etc... Love, love, love

Does not have do what it claims to do

I tried this app on my iPhone, and on Apple TV. Searching on the Apple TV does not use the remote keyboard, which makes it horrible to enter names. Cant mark seasons as watched, search does not return results from all services. It is more efficient to search each app individually. I actually think the built in TV app works better, and I am shocked I am saying that, because it is HORRIBLE!

So bad it was deleted

First-black background makes it very difficult to use. Second-the screen layout seems to have been designed by someone drunk or on drugs (or both). Third- the AppleTV app doesnt allow the use of the Remote app to enter the password. Could be useful but its currently poor.

WoW its pretty bad

I read the reviews about how bad the UI is but decided to at least take a look. Haha! Its worse than I even imagined. And on the Apple TV its nearly unusable. What a joke. Did a five year old design the UI? And it doesnt even work that well. Try searching for the CBS show Survivor. Pretty well-known show right? Fairly popular? If you search for the word "survivor" you will get about 100 shows with the word survivor it but not the CBS series Survivor. If you do find a series you like it is so clunky getting around to add it to your watchlist or find episodes that its pretty much not worth it. I regret even giving them my email address.

Still cant get over the hump

Primary issues can be summed up with three words...data, data, DATA. Tv database is inconsistent at best and, other times downright bizarre. Same episode listed 8 times - why? Directing to best streaming option used to be Fan TVs strength. Now it too is becoming a weakness. Just today I noted three films available on my HBOGo app that are showing as available there on Fan (The Nice Guys, Boss, Keanu). Still nice that we can create lists. Still not nice that we have no options to sort that list. Neither can we sort the lists themselves by list title or anything else. Cmon Fan ...these are the basics. Get the data right and offer the standard basic features (sorting). Tested same titles missed by Fan on two other apps that also provide streaming source - Yidio and JustWatch. Both got it right. In addition, I never see repeating titles there. Seems they have data right. While you can track watched and watchlist - neither offers powerful list features. This is where IMDB comes in. Not only is the list building strong but the data tends to be top of the class. That said, IMDB only includes Amazon as a streaming source. So best options now would include a combination of IMDB and Yidio or JustWatch. Fan has had a long time to get it together and they just dont seem interested. Support is light as well. Too bad - you had potential.

Great guide and tracker

I love this app. I recently got rid of cable to save money and this app lets me keep track of all my shows. I can keep track of what episodes I have seen and what ones I still need to watch.

So helpful

Love this app!

The missing piece from the IMDb app

A perfect supplement to the IMDb app which I use religiously. The ability to web on IMDb is 2nd to none (some of you know what Im talking about). Did you just learn all this cool stuff about this new show or movie on IMDb and now you wanna know where you can watch it? Good luck finding it on there. Come to fan tv. Theyll tell you all the places you can stream it. Hulu, Netflix, iTunes, roku, cable channels, premium movie channels... pretty much any on demand source. Its the best.

Wanted a tool like this

Gets the job done -- lets me know if theres a streaming service where this or that movie/show is available for free before I pay to rent it.

Poor UI carries over to Apple TV

Apple TV app is FAR inferior to WatchAid. This app needs a complete UI refresh. It is cluttered, and unintuitive to use, especially for marking episodes watched and adding items to lists. On Apple TV it gets worse. There is so much wasted space with tiny artwork. Very difficult to navigate. Lastly, there is still a HUGE issue that Netflix artwork doesnt display at all! The devs say it is because of licensing issues, yet every other competing app displays Netflix images. Notice there are no Netflix shows in any official screenshots. This app is still a pass for me. For tv shows, I now use WatchAid instead.

Really love this app!

Its great for finding any TV show or movie and seeing where you can watch it. Especially useful when there is a streaming option. I wish the Apple TV version was a little easier to navigate but this is a review for the iOS versions and the navigation works pretty well.

Very poor customer support and basic features dont work

I started using this app about a month ago and set up an account. The app does not accurately show you when a movie is available to stream or view via disk from Netflix. This a core feature this app claims to provide and it does not work. I put several movies on my watch list that are available to both stream and get via disk and the app failed to list any of them as available. I asked for help twice and have been ignored for over a month by customer support.

Love it!

So easy to see where the cheapest or free site is before picking a movie!

Excellent App - Some Suggestions

This has been a very good app for finding movies and TV shows. However, I would like to see the following services added: Fandor, FilmStruck, SundanceNow, TriBeCa Shortlist, Mubi, FilmBox Live, Docurama and SnagFilms. This would greatly amplify the ability of the app to reach Cinefiles.

Works for me

When I want to find out how I can watch something, this app tells me. Its exactly what I wanted.

The best!!

Very sleek, organized and you can view everything in just one area. 5 stars!

It takes a lot for me to actually write a review

Im the type of guy who has seen a lot of movies, but not a lot of the staples or must see movies. This app allows me to create a watch list every time a friend says "really?? You havent seen <insert epic movie from the last 40 year>". Once I add this to my watch list, I can see where this movie is offered (iTunes, Netflix, HBO, crackle, etc.) and just how much it will cost, if anything. Great app. Dont know how I survived without it.

Best way to find where to watch things

Search is the only feature I use

Must have app

Search every movie and where it is playing or streaming.

LOVE IT!!

Does what it says!!! Works perfect. Using it everyday now.
